I love my husband, but sometimes he’s a total homebody. He’s perfectly happy sitting at his computer all day. But me? I like to get out and try new things! One Saturday, I finally convinced him to go to a new restaurant downtown.

It took us longer than I thought to get there, and when we arrived, we had to pay for valet parking because there was nowhere else to park. To make things worse, a group of people behind us had a little too much to drink and were being loud and annoying. But, at least the food was good.

Afterward, we both felt like maybe staying home would’ve been better.  The problem still remained.  What can we do at home that is new and fun that makes it seem like we went out?  

But then I had an idea! I make fun painting kits for one person... but why couldn’t I make two paintings that, when put together, would make one big picture? 

I told my husband about the idea, but I had to bribe him with wine and a yummy dinner that we’d both cooked together. At first, he wasn’t really into it. He was just doing it because I asked him to. But by the end of the painting, he didn’t want to stop! He was even trying to fix my painting!

“Hey, I’m the artist here!” I said, laughing.

We both had so much fun, and now our beautiful couple painting hangs in our bedroom. It’s a special reminder that trying something new together can be really fun!
